Job Hunting - My mantra for getting hired

Looking for a job change but not able to convince the recruiter that you are the right candidate for this job. But yes you want that job desperately as it pays you better or adds value to your profile.Well here are some tricks that you might follow to get yourself hired.I learnt it after being interviewed quite a lot of times and interviewing a lot of candidates freshers as well as experienced during my professional career. But my recent adventures have been worth it and I have managed to start converting a few lately. Here are my tips to you:

  1. No matter how desperately you want that job remember the recruiter is also equally desperate to close this position, so there exists a mutual need and you can be the person who can close this open position All you need to do is remain calm and composed and weigh your answers well but never show desperation. You will definitely hit the dead end if you say that you can do anything for this job. Dude you need to have some self respect and some morales to prove you are a good candidate.
  2. Always answer in an affirmative way. Do not annoy your interviewer at any stage. If he/she gets pissed off at any moment due to your arrogance you are never going to get past that level.
  3. Prepare well the basics if you are a fresher. Get ready to be grilled on your favorite subjects. For experienced professionals prepare well for every single item you mentioned in your resume. You cannot say I just mentioned it for the sake of mentioning it.
  4. Always read carefully the company's requirements and prepare yourself well based on the description of the profile sent to you before the interview for which you are being interviewed. Scan through each and every item carefully. If you are not provided with a complete profile description always ask for the same.It helps to judge what might be the expectations from you.
  5. Do a bit of research on the company and see how you can add value to them as company expects you to be an asset and not a liability.
  6. Do not throw too much of technical jargon if you are not very sure about it. Always present your answers in a very lucid manner and give some examples to support your answer. But please do not say anything that you do not know. Any technical term that you may use might become a question and then you will caught in a vicious cycle of bluffing and you know the end very well.
  7. Now comes the best part, there is always something that you do not know but interviewer ends up asking the same thing, now you have to convince him that you can do the job even without knowing it at this moment but you can learn while doing the job. The best way to do so it to relate this question to something that you know somehow and then explain that very well. Seeing your knowledge in whatever you have done and you know interviewer will definitely take it as a positive point and will try to ask you from what you know. Remember it is you who drives the interview in the direction you want it to.
  8. Always be very respectful when you interact with HR. They definitely pay attention to the way you interact with them.Technical teams usually like frank people.
  9. Last but not the least be clear in your communication. Communication skill is a very big asset and you can do wonders with it. I mean it !!
All these points that I mentioned above may or may not hold well in every case but this is what I have learnt from my experiences so far. Also they all are equally important.

Any suggestions or corrections are always welcome.

Hope to see you in another job soon!!
